The Consumer Research Department at Gearbox Publishing is looking for a Senior User Research Analyst to join our team! The Senior User Research Analyst is responsible for collaborating with project developers and User Research Investigators to analyze study data collected on titles from across the Gearbox portfolio. In addition, this role will assist in the development of research methods and paradigms, and data collection tools and approaches. The Senior User Research Analyst is also responsible for advocating for data collection and analysis best practices, moderating cross-disciplinary collaborations, and driving improvements to the Analysis Team’s capabilities through continued training, education, and research.


  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative User Research data from across all titles in the Gearbox portfolio.
  • Collaborate with User Research Investigators and members of the Market and Accessibility Research Teams on the design and implementation of lab-based and remote studies, and on the reporting and communication of results and findings.
  • Develop and implement processes for cross-departmental or multidisciplinary analysis efforts.
  • Act on data requests from and proactively inform stakeholders from all departments and project teams at Gearbox.
  • Influence and drive improvements to the scope and breadth of work conducted by the Consumer Research Department, to include new paradigms, lines of inquiry, methods, tools, and analytical techniques through continued training, education, and research.
  • Advocate for best practices and use of data within the department and across disciplines.
  • Mentor and educate other members of the Analysis Team.


  • 3+ years product testing analysis and/or User Research data analysis experience, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S., B.A.) in psychology, sociology, human factors, cognitive science, or other relevant social science field.
  • Background, training, course study, and continued used of skills related to experimental design and qualitative/quantitative statistical analysis of human behavior.
  • Proficiency with one or more statistical software packages for languages for social science data (e.g. R, SPSS).
  • Familiarity with User Research best practices from the games industry or related technical field that includes customer product testing.
  • Strong ability to multitask and collaborate on two or more projects or parallel efforts.
  • Familiarity with game systems and design principles across a wide variety of console, PC, and mobile games.

Bonus Points For:

  • Advanced degree or training in cognitive science, statistics, informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Tableau or other BI visualization software and/or SQL-based languages.
  • Experience with behavioral data modeling and simulation techniques.
