Gearbox Software has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Director.

This position is responsible for the strategic human resource planning to provide the organization with the best people talent available and to position the organization as the employer of choice by being aware of policies, practices and trends within the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Must love taking care of and teaching leaders and team members! The most important aspect of your job will be taking care of others!
  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the organization's human resource function and performance.
  • Translates the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.
  • Works closely with the department heads/hiring managers, to establish and forecast people needs, establish staffing priorities and manage related changes.
  • Leads the recruitment efforts of the company by managing the company recruiters to ensure quality resumes for openings, as well as managing time to fill on priority openings
  • Assess Learning & Development needs within the organization and partner with team leads to create programs to influence change.
  • Administer the company's performance management program. Ensure timeliness, consistency and distinction of performance ratings and standards.
  • Advise managers in the establishment of employee goals and counsel management on proper ways to evaluate and communicate job performance to employees. Train managers on how to coach employees. Provide leadership development, coaching and mentoring of staff
  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps. Areas of activity will include training and development programs for preparing employees for more significant responsibilities, and general business development programs to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the business of the company and the software industry.
  • Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
  • Develops appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the organization. Included in this area would be programs for employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, external education and career development, among others.
  • Maintains knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws and issues.
  • Manages other areas such as relocation, employee communication, employee safety and health.
  • Manages the budget and other financial measures of the HR department.
  • Continues improving the programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people issues of the organization.
  • Evaluates the HR division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as for providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Fun, outgoing, energetic personality that compels others to action and uses influence and relationships to accelerate performance! Must have a sense of humor.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of Human Resources experience in progressive HR roles is required, with a minimum of 3 years in a Director level role
  • Excellent change management skills, comfortable with ambiguity and constant change
  • Must love working with people, maintaining a positive energy and tone even in difficult situations.
  • Proven ability to use effective constructive conflict in a professional business environment.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS platforms (proficiency in BambooHR preferred)
  • Bonus points for prior work experience with a multi-state employer
  • Familiarity or experience working in the games industry or other entertainment and media industries
